Bay Leaf Plant

Transplanting A Bay Leaf

Finding a good place to put this plant

The main purpose of a good growing area is to provide sufficient air to the roots of plants. As a general rule, if you are planting trees and shrubs on individual holes, do not add soil amendments ... simply delete the existing soil. If planting beds, use all the organic amendments that can be paid, but they should mix well with the existing soil, and not just piled on top. This allows extensive root zone well prepared in which plant roots will remain for most of their lives.

No matter what type of soil have, be careful not to install your plants too deep. Should never be planted deeper than they were grown in the nursery. Planting too deep is a common problem and many plants are killed each year by gardeners who do not understand how important it is the planting depth.

It is a mistake when planting a tree with bare-root, to prune some branches to balance the top with lost roots when the tree was dug. When a bare-root tree begins to grow, is able to limit the growth of new shoots and leaves to the ability of the root system on their own. Pruning takes some of the healthy shoots him robs the tree of stored energy. If, however, a new tree has a broken branch, prune back to the nearest strong bud or side shoot. After the tree has grown for a season and recovered from the stress of transplanting, pruning begins in a balanced manner with a good position leading members. Use the fewest possible cuts.

Plants should never be potted in pots without drainage holes, a layer of gravel will do nothing to stop the soil becoming waterlogged. If the soil at the bottom of a pot kept moist, plant roots get waterlogged and putrefaction. But there are holes in the bottom of containers that allow water flow through. In fact, none of gravel on the bottom reduces the available volume of potting soil and do everything heavier than it should be. All that is needed is a small bit of mud on the drainage holes of the pot to keep soil out. If the boat is based on a shallow dish, usually not keep the dish filled water or roots in the lower layer of soil damage.

After planting an evergreen shrub, spray the foliage every day for two weeks. Annual climbers use to cover a trellis naked while slow-growing plants have a chance to establish.

Protect tender perennials of frost by lining a pot or basket with straw and place it on the plants from frost, it is likely that the strike.

To a large pot planted with a shrub like box (Buxus) or Bay (Laurus), surrounded by lower growth of plants, keep the bush in a pot of plastic rather than on the floor pan, then can be planted around it regularly without disturbing the roots of the shrub.

Description

HOT PEPPERS: When Wilbur Scoville first devised a means to test the heat of peppers, his hottest entry then came in at 20,000 units. Habanero and Thai chilies can go as high as 60,000. Compare that to the sweet bell pepper at zero. When hot peppers are consumed, capsaicinoids bind with pain receptors in the mouth and throat that are responsible for sensing heat. Once activated by the capsaicinoids, these receptors send a message to the brain that the person has consumed something hot. The brain responds to the burning sensation by raising the heart rate, increasing perspiration and release of endorphins. Hot peppers should be eaten with caution!
