The Hindu Rope Plant is an exotic house plant native to the far east. It is rather easy to grow and can reach lengths of over 8 feet! The plant is easy to grow. It does best in a filtered light window and watered when dry. The plant prefers to be pot bound. The plant has thick, convoluted, dark green leaves, arranged on trailing, twisted stems. Small, white, waxy flowers have red centers and are very fragrant. It is related to the Wax Plant. Proper name: Hoya carnosa compacta. The plant you will receive is growing in a 2 1/2" pot. PASSION FLOWER: Passion flowers are exotic looking topical plants that can actually be grown in much milder areas. There are many different passion flower plants. Some passion flowers are vines, some produce edible fruits. The genus Passiflora contains over 400 species. The name 'Passion' Flower comes from Spanish Christian missionaries who adopted the unique physical structures of this plant, particularly the numbers of its various flower parts, as symbols of the last days of Jesus and especially his crucifixion. Unusual yet beautiful 3 inch flowers, followed by edible fruits after a hot summer. A self clinging climber from Brazil, but one of the hardiest of the passion flowers. Suitable for greenhouse, conservatory, houseplant, or outside against a sheltered wall. Flowers early summer to autumn. Hardy in zones 6-10. The roots are hardy to 5 degrees. In cooler areas it can be brought inside as a houseplant in the winter. The flower is said to represent the Crucifixion. The fruits are also edible. Description

The staghorn fern is an epiphyte that lives in the tropical forests of southeast Asia and Australia. This plant has a short rhizome from which both sterile and fertile fronds sprout. The sterile fronds are rounded and form a sort of involucre which encases the branch on which the plant is attached. From these sprout the fronds which carry the reproductive apparatus, recognizable by a sort of rusty down situated in the ventral part of the plant. The fronds are long, wide, and laciniated at the top. Staghorn Fern is one of the more unusual house plants. It grows without its roots in soil and produces 2 types of fronds. One type is the branched frond that gives the plant its name. The other round, flat frond forms a collar around the branched fronds. The round frond may be 3 to 4 inches across on young plants but 3 to 4 feet across on older plants. Ideal temperatures are between 60 degrees and 80 degrees. It prefers bright, but indirect light.

If they receive just a small amount of care they will reward you with many magical blooms throughout the year. Here, in short, is what they need:1. Temperature: Most important, a WARM place where their tropical origins are respected. It is often said that hibiscus like much the same conditions as people and with temperature, that is pretty much true. For best results and lots of blooms, hibiscus should be located where the temperature remains between 60 and 90 degrees most of the time. 2. Watering. Watering is divided into two areas - cold weather watering and hot weather watering. In hot weather hibiscus will use lots of water and prefer a steady supply of it. Avoid flooding the roots or allowing the plant to stand in a saucer full of water for an extended time. Hibiscus will develop droopy leaves in hot weather if they do not have enough water. The cure is simple, provide some water and the leaves will regain their crispness.In cold weather it is better to let the plant get too dry than to overwater it. This is one of the few things that will cause the early death of a hibiscus plant. If you can keep the roots warm you will have few problems with this. 3. Feeding. In order to maintain a healthy hibiscus that blooms a lot, you must feed it. Purchase a good quality plant food and use it regularly according to directions on the container. Look at the label for what is often called "minors" such as iron, copper, manganese, and other minerals as these are also good for hibiscus. If you don't like to fertilize, try using a time release product like Osmocote that can last for months with just one application. The plant you will receive is growing in a 4" pot.
