(Ferry Morse kit) I had some tree choppings as a cover for weeds, and I guess that was sucking the nitrogen from the soil. Now I have cut the leaves and grass on the garden. Hopefully will be made. I've also added some coffee beans. Is there anything else I can add? I hope to plant a little saffron, daffofils, Hyacinth, phlox, lilies, raspberries, and grapes. (Herbs lying around too) I know that is a mixture strange, but is there any way to make the land suitable for all plants?

Leaves and grass should help a lot, but if there is any way you can get their hands on some cow manure, horse, rabbit, whatever, would be a good idea to get some time this fall, and until spring inches will be perfect for planting. Coffee is good, but if you can start a compost pile, which would be the best bet. Any plant debris from the kitchen can be put in it, eggshells, almost anything except meat scraps. Find a good web site on compost making and will give all instructions. If you can buy some cotton burr compost, which is one of the best things you can do with your soil.
