Hydroponics Cultivation for Year-round Healthy Vegetables

Hydroponics as a way of cultivation was accepted in America in the early 1930's. Today, hydroponics cultivation is well recognized all over the world. As an efficient method of agriculture, it has been proven to provide the basic requirements of the plants to produce great yields.

With hydroponics, plants are provided with their exact nutritional requirements for growth and maturation. Thus, hydroponics provides the ideal growing conditions for the plants making it thrive.

Many horticulturists and plant scientists have been much interested in developing this technique. They have witnessed the significant improvements in plant quality and yield brought about by hydroponics.

Hydroponics cultivation grows plants with their roots in mineral-rich solutions. It even means working with water literally. This literal definition of working with water become popular over the years and it has evolved to consider all types of gardening without the soil. Therefore, hydroponics cultivation now means gardening without the soil.

Hydroponics cultivation was employed even in the ancient times. In the modern era, it was until the late 1920?s that hydroponics was thoroughly accepted and practiced with the green house industry.

Yet its mainstream acceptance with the American people is only until the 1930?s. Such acceptance even saved the American forces in the Pacific. The American forces grew vegetables and crops using these methods for their survival during the World War II.

Researches and the involvement of the scientific community constantly fueled the developments in the green house industry and it was in 1970?s that a system was developed that opened the cultivation technique to more opportunities.

The system known as N.F.T. developed by Dr. Alan Cooper driven the cultivation method to be feasible with a wide variety of plants especially vegetables.

Today, hydroponics cultivation is now commercially accepted as a method feasible and economical for growing crops and vegetables. And with the use of digital and automatic control systems, the field of hydroponics has even become more competent with minimized human errors involved.

With the availability of the equipments due to massive popularity, this soil-less form of gardening even reached the ordinary gardener at home.

With a homemade hydroponics system, one can cultivate vegetables all year round. In today?s obese population, a well balanced diet with six to eight servings of fruits and vegetables everyday is mandatory.

However, this healthy lifestyle choice is considered by many to be a luxury. With the hydroponics system at home, one can be rewarded with high yield of vegetables and a healthier lifestyle.
