Planting An Indoor Herb Garden

Fruit Flies! Help!!!?

Ok, so I have a mass fruit fly infestation and I don't know how to get rid of them. It all started when I planted my indoor herb garden. I used the dish suds trick to keep the out of my plants, but now they've infiltrated the rest of my house. They are driving me insane! Anyone know how I can get rid of them... preferably in a child and pet safe, environmentally friendly manner?

All you have to do is put vinegar in saucers , set them near a lamp. they will be attracted to it and drown. For some reason it works and it gets other bugs too. The added bonus is the vinegar absorbs kitchen odors too.
